For those of us who were involved with the Island School Council in the 1980s and know Tim and Betsy Doughtie, I can say I have wonderful memories of both.

Tim's crazy T-shirts helped sell a lot of auction items benefiting the schools, and his stint as auctioneer and outrageous sense of humor kept us looking forward to more. Betsy's support was quietly confident and urged us all to become involved. The Phart-o-phonics, composed of fun-loving well-known islanders, was a treat tickling our funny bones.

Tim left us far too soon, but I can't help but think he's looking down and thinking, "How can I make more smiles on Hilton Head Island?"
